How to read these figures

A selected line, with clear limits.

Walking distance is the map length of the eleven selected walking sections. Elevation gain and loss are calculated from that line against Crossing’s terrain, using the app’s 100 m smoothing method. They are terrain-based figures, not GPS observations.

Boat, bus and road links are excluded from distance and elevation totals. The dashed Vikjorda–Kleppstad road line depicts a possible connection, not a confirmed service or walking stage. Check transport for your date.

This selected map line is a planning overview, not a substitute for independent navigation. Check current access, weather, trail conditions and transport before setting out. Visit Lofoten’s mountain safety advice explains how quickly conditions can change.
